Bexhill is an East Sussex coastal town with a population around 45-50,000 and growing. It is a quiet town, but is within easy reach by train of Hastings (5 miles) and Eastbourne (14 miles), Battle (5 miles) and St Leonards (3 miles), with their many pubs and restaurants, so plenty of variety.
Bexhill backs on to an area of natural beauty with walks to Crowhurst, Battle and St Leonards, and fronts onto the sea, with a long promenade and sand at low-tide.
Home to the famous retro Event and Exhibition venue, Bexhill’s main attraction is the De La Warr Pavilion, which books such classic acts as K T Tunstall, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Saxon, Joe Satriani and Deep Purple’s Glenn Hughes and lots more. You’d be surprised!
With many hotels and guest houses, Bexhill is a great place to stay as a base to explore the surrounding area. It does also have a few special places of its own, such as The Picture Playhouse (Wetherspoons), Rock Salt and The Brickmaker’s Alehouse (for real ale and cider). Picasso’s and The Sackville Bistro are notable and there are probably four or five other good venues for food in Bexhill.
Venues include The Harp and the Manor Barn, but if you want a bit more life, go to Hastings or Eastbourne, which are much livelier of an evening.
